About Oyin Omotola
Hey there! My name is Oyin and I am a Christian faith-based fashion and lifestyle creator.
I was born and raised in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to Nigerian-American parents who instilled our Yoruba culture in me. They always encouraged me to dress well because they believed that doing so would influence how people perceived me. As I’ve grown, I discovered that while they were justified in that belief, it was not a healthy way for me to make decisions about how I dressed — or anything really. However, I found so much joy in using style as a creative outlet to inspire myself and others. I fell in love with the platforms of other women with similar interests as me. However, I noticed that I could only relate to a few of them in race, ethnicity, and faith. This led me to long for a space where I could share my style and bits of my life that would be helpful to women like me: the young Black Christian woman who wants to “chop the life of her head” (Nigerian slang for enjoy life) and look fabulous while doing so. When I could not find this space, I created it.
Thus, OyinOmotola.com was born.
My goal for this space is to provide faith-based influence to the woman who desires to improve her style and quality of life. As I share my own style adventures and life lessons, I hope to inspire you to express yourself creatively and grow into who God has called you to be.
